BUILDING SUPERVISOR (1)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the position will be responsible to maintain every aspect of the buildings/construction projects and surrounding grounds where they are employed, managing employees, coordinating schedules, and enforcing all property policies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises personnel in the custodial care of large buildings; inspects work for maintenance to proper standards.
  • Supervises and participates in preventive maintenance and maintenance of buildings, including floors, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, locks, fixtures and fittings.
  • Supervises and participates in the servicing, cleaning, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems, electrical fixtures, and other equipment.
  • Inspects grounds, buildings, and equipment, noting need for repair and replacements and makes appropriate reports.
  • Enforces building and safety regulations
  • Plans and conducts a preventive maintenance program; trains new employees; maintains adequate levels of maintenance supplies; keeps records and prepares appropriate reports.
  • Supervises and participates in the setting and arrangement of rooms for meetings and other special student and faculty functions.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Certificate in Computers or equivalent
  • Certificate/Diploma in Construction or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License in Motorbike Riding is an added advantage

WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATOR (1)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Stores Supervisor, the position will be responsible forensuring the smooth operation of the weighbridge facility and act as point of contact for customers.

Responsible for ensuring that all legal obligations and regulations are met.

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct traffic coming onto site and operate weighbridge.
  • Check incoming loads, ensuring compliance with site licenseand permitted waste types.
  • Record weights type by vehicle, completingappropriate documentation and collect driver signatures.
  • Process delivery notes and tickets accurately and efficiently.
  • Report to the appropriate Manager, any contamination or non-conforming wastes delivered to site.
  • Report any anomalies/errors to the weighbridge system to the appropriate people immediately.
  • Ensure that the waste yardage report is correct and charges are correct.
  • Maintain relationships and deal with queries from customer sand site visitors.
  • Weighbridge customers are aware of site rules and distribute information and guidance accordingly.
  • Ensure that vehicles delivering to site have the correct documentation
  • Ensure that vehicles have the necessary documentation for forward movements from the site to destination.
  • Compile compliance reports for materials in and out of the site.
  • Ensure that the site diary for materials is kept up to date.
  • Comply with all Health, Safety, HR and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • The above list is not exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

BRICKLAYER (04)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Building Supervisor, the position will be responsible to support and manage laying bricks, concrete blocks, stone and other similar materials to construct or repair walls, arches, chimneys, fireplaces and other structures in accordance with blueprints and specifications

Key Accountabilities

  • Clean the work area and ensure that any debris or hazardous material is cleared away.
  • Ensure that there is enough building material available
  • Maintain accurate Re- order levels
  • Mix cement using hands or mixing tools depending on the amount of cement.
  • Ensure that bricks are laid symmetrically and that cement is appropriately applied to hold them together.
  • Manage excess cement to lessen wastage.
  • Shape and trim bricks to make sure that they fit in properly in places such as corners.
  • Use a variety of power and hand tools such as hammers and trowels.
  • Use pointing tools to apply finishing touches.
  • Determine if bricks need to be laid vertically or horizontally.
  • Weld metal parts and apply plaster on walls as instructed in the work order.
  • Study plans for the building before starting on a bricklaying project.
  • Layout patterns and foundations according to the instructions on work orders.
  • Polish new surfaces using a variety of materials and tools.
  • Make a list of needed materials and tools for the next work day and ensure that stock inventory is sufficient.
